Captain Morgan is named after Sir Henry Morgan, a 17th-century Welsh privateer who made his name raiding around the Caribbean. The rum itself is far more modern: it's Diageo's blend of Caribbean rum stirred together with a secret recipe of spices and natural flavours, vanilla and brown sugar leading the charge. It launched in 1982 and is now one of the most recognised rum brands on the planet, poured in over 100 countries. This is the 37.5% bottling on Kenyan shelves.
